Gemini 3 Pro
Gemini 3 Pro (November 2025) was Google's third flagship model with a 1M-token context window and native multimodality — now superseded by Gemini 3.1 Pro.
Gemini 3 Pro — explained in more detail
Gemini 3 Pro was unveiled on November 18, 2025 as Google’s then-most-capable model, replacing Gemini 2.5 Pro. The architecture remains natively multimodal — text, images, audio, video, and code in a single model — and retains the 1 million token context window characteristic of the Gemini line. On reasoning benchmarks, Gemini 3 Pro set new highs: 1501 Elo on LMArena, 91.9% on GPQA Diamond, 81% on MMMU-Pro.
Status and succession
The preview variant gemini-3-pro-preview was deprecated on March 26, 2026 — new and existing projects should migrate to gemini-3.1-pro-preview. Gemini 3.1 Pro (February 2026) doubles reasoning performance on ARC-AGI-2 (77.1% vs. 31%) and expands output capacity to 64K tokens.
Context
Gemini 3 Pro marked the transition from the 2.x generation to the 3 series and competed with Claude Opus 4 and GPT-5 in the top tier. Anyone starting fresh today goes straight to 3.1 Pro — Gemini 3 Pro itself is only of historical relevance.
