Tripo AI

Tripo AI is a commercial 3D generation platform by VAST AI. Version 3.1 leads the 2026 ELO arena rankings and turns text or images into game-ready models with clean quad topology, PBR textures and auto-rigging.

Tripo AI — explained in more detail

Tripo AI is a commercial cloud platform for generating 3D models from text prompts or images, built by the vendor VAST AI. Its current version 3.1 is widely regarded as the category leader in 2026: it ranks first in the Sloyd ELO arena and also tops the Top3D leaderboard. These arenas rank models through direct head-to-head comparisons based on human judgements of geometry and texture quality.

Tripo focuses on production-ready assets for games and real-time applications. Output includes HD geometry, a Smart Low Poly optimisation with adjustable face limits, PBR textures and quad-mesh topology suited to manual cleanup. The platform also offers automatic rigging (Tripo Rigging v2.5). Tripo is a closed product without open weights and is delivered via web app and API.

Example / In practice

An indie studio can turn a concept render into a textured character model via image-to-3D in roughly 1.5 minutes, cap it to a polygon budget through Smart Low Poly and auto-rig it directly — instead of modelling and skinning the asset by hand.

Distinction from similar terms

Tripo AI competes directly with Hyper3D Rodin and Meshy. While Rodin leads on maximum geometry and detail density and Meshy is considered the versatile all-round hosted tool, Tripo positions itself through game-ready topology and its leading arena rankings. All three share the 3D-generation use case; unlike the open TRELLIS.2, Tripo, Rodin and Meshy are closed platforms.
