Maximize Clicks

An automated Google Ads bidding strategy. Google sets bids so that the daily budget yields as many clicks as possible — without considering conversions.

Maximize Clicks — in more detail

Maximize Clicks is an automated but not conversion-based bid strategy. Google adjusts bids so the daily budget produces as many clicks as possible. An optional max CPC cap prevents Google from paying high amounts for individual clicks. Useful while conversion tracking is not yet in place or while conversion volume is too low for Smart Bidding (rule of thumb: < 30 conversions per 30 days). Not the right fit when the real goal is sales or leads — the strategy ignores too much for that: conversion probability, order value, user quality.

Example / In practice

A brand-new blog launches a brand-awareness campaign with no firm conversion definition. The goal is reach and early brand recognition. Maximize Clicks with a €0.40 max CPC delivers 12,000 clicks in four weeks. Newsletter signups are then defined as a conversion and the campaign migrates to tCPA.

Distinction from similar terms

Manual CPC is manual, Maximize Clicks is automated — both ignore conversions. Maximize Conversions and tCPA are the next tier: automated plus conversion-driven. Target Impression Share maximizes visibility, not clicks.
